About the position

This position shall support the executive chef by preparing ingredients, cooking dishes during high-volume shifts, and maintaining strict food safety and cleanliness standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare, cooking, and garnish food items, including salads, appetizers, and entrees, ensuring proper portion control, temperature, and presentation
  2. Assist the head chef with daily menu preparation, including chopping, sauce preparation, and if needed, managing the pastry section
  3. Monitor ingredient inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and manage waste to meet budgetary goals
  4. Ensure the kitchen, preparation areas and equipment are clean, organized and compliant with health regulations and safety standards
  5. Guide junior kitchen staff during service and foster a collaborative environment

Job requirements

  1. Previous experience in a high-volume hotel or restaurant kitchen
  2. Culinary school training is often preferred
  3. Strong cooking skills, knowledge of food and safety regulations and exceptional time management
  4. Ability to stand for long periods and lift light weight
  5. Willingness to work weekends, evenings and holidays
