{"id":10721,"date":"2026-03-28T17:13:55","date_gmt":"2026-03-28T17:13:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mentorhrs.org\/jobs\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=10721"},"modified":"2026-03-28T17:13:56","modified_gmt":"2026-03-28T17:13:56","slug":"assistant-chef","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/mentorhrs.org\/jobs\/job\/assistant-chef\/","title":{"rendered":"ASSISTANT CHEF"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>About the position<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This position shall support the executive chef by preparing ingredients, cooking dishes during high-volume shifts, and maintaining strict food safety and cleanliness standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Key Responsibilities<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prepare, cooking, and garnish food items, including salads, appetizers, and entrees, ensuring proper portion control, temperature, and presentation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist the head chef with daily menu preparation, including chopping, sauce preparation, and if needed, managing the pastry section<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor ingredient inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and manage waste to meet budgetary goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure the kitchen, preparation areas and equipment are clean, organized and compliant with health regulations and safety standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guide junior kitchen staff during service and foster a collaborative environment<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Job requirements<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Previous experience in a high-volume hotel or restaurant kitchen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Culinary school training is often preferred<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong cooking skills, knowledge of food and safety regulations and exceptional time management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to stand for long periods and lift light weight<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willingness to work weekends, evenings and holidays<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Send your application in PDF as one single or hand deliver to Hotel Reception Bakerm Hotel Wakiso Town Council.
